DIY kitchen make-over on a budget? Read on!
Growing up, I spent a lot of time at Home Depot with my mom. I remember attending a tiling class one day when I was about 8 years old after she got an itch to tile the entire house. Who knew how useful that class would be 20 years later!
Last August my boyfriend bought a condo that had recently been updated from its original 1970’s interior. Though the previous owners revamping efforts set a nice base, the kitchen was seriously lacking some warmth and personality. With a limited budget left from furnishing the rest of the house, we were looking for something reasonable in cost, but high in impact. Backsplash it was!
We made a trip to a few tile stores, but ended up finding the most perfect Allen and Roth subway tiles at Lowe’s. Of course, I always seem to have complicated taste as we learned the tile color had been discontinued – leading us on a wild goose chase around town to round up all the remaining boxes from Lowe’s stores around the valley.
