Surviving an Arizona summer calls for water and more water! From pool parties to floating the river - it's the only way to stay cool while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. However, with temps creeping up to 120 degrees it's super important to know what to expect and how to prepare so you don't get burned by the sun. Pun intended.
This weekend we are heading out to tube the Salt River! Now, it's been at least 5 years since I've hit the river, so to prepare I spent some time researching tips and tricks to add to my collection of personal experiences to make for a successful trip!

Recent travels to Santa Barbara had me sippin' on stripes! I didn't plan it that way - but apparently, stripes are the new floral. With some IG buzz on where to get the looks, I thought I'd share my closet secrets so friends can hop on that stripe train before it leaves the station.
First Stop: PHX > LAX
I started the weekend flying from PHX > LAX, stopping in Malibu for lunch, and then making the way up the coast to Santa Barbara. I settled for coastal comfort with a little stripe flare.

Next Stop: Wine Tasting
Blues and whites = love at first site! I came across this little number on Revolve.com and had to have it for a frolicking day of wine sippin' through the Funk Zone and down to the beach. Caution: this one requires a bathroom buddy at all times. The buttons at the top make it impossible to dress alone. Logistics aside - I am totally obsessed!

That's a Wrap
I am not even sure you guys are ready for this one... I just want to say you're welcome right now. This a 2-piece of perfection and is the definition of functionfancy. Are you ready?? I found this at Charlotte Russe! Yes, finally a look under $50. I had people coming up to me all night asking where I got it and complimenting the quality and style.

From the beach to the red carpet, fishtail braids are everywhere! This evolving trend has completely transformed the classic braid into something so elegant and timeless - a style appropriate for any occasion.
For me, the fishtail braid is my go-to when I have: a) overslept, b) am too tired to heat style, c) am rocking three-day-old hair, and/or d) rush out of the house to run errands. When I admit this to friends and co-workers, they always have the same look of confusion and most likely think I am down playing the (lack) of effort involved to craft this look.
But to be completely honest, this is probably the easiest and most effortless hair style you can ever imagine. Coming from me... the girl who wore braided pigtails for the first half of her life... that means a lot!
I think this is what I love most about the fishtail; it is the definition of function-fancy! In less than 5 minutes (depending on the length of your hair) you're left with a beautiful style. To pay credit where credit is do, I thought I'd share the video that taught me everything I know.

Happy Braiding! ❤
With Thanksgiving behind us, the countdown to Christmas is officially on! A whole month of festive music, holiday parties, family, friends and winter break; it really is the most wonderful time of the year. But in between re-runs of Elf, decorating the house, and jumping from party to party, there never seems to be enough time to squeeze everything in, especially holiday shopping.
As of today, there are only twenty-three shopping days left until Christmas!
When you think of coconut oil you probably think of the many health benefits boasted in recent media. It's nature's miracle in a jar and has replaced the job of many cooking oils, skin moisturizers, hair conditioners... this list goes on. However, my latest obsession with coconut oil is for make-up remover!
I've wasted my money on chemical cleansers and wipes and nothing has ever worked better, especially for removing eye make-up. Not to mention, it's deep hydration is great for preventing fine lines from aging and naturally leaves your skin with a fresh glow. So the next time you go to remove your make-up, toss the chemical mixtures that leave your eyes burning and grab for a wash cloth and jar of coconut oil!
Tip & Tricks: First, wash your face with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and pat your face dry. Scoop a tablespoon or two of coconut oil with your finger tips and massage around your face and eyes. Using a cotton ball or washcloth, gently wipe away until all of your makeup is removed. For heavy make-up, you may add more coconut oil and repeat.
Au revoir harsh, stinging cleaners. We promise not to miss you!
