First Friday is celebrated on the first Friday (how 'bout that?) of each month with an eclectic showcase of live music, theatrical performances, local artists, art venues, small shops and amazing restaurants. It’s by far the best night of the month to explore the revamped downtown area and explore everything Phoenix has to offer.
I personally recommend starting at Melt on Roosevelt Row for a locally churned Fruity Pebbles ice cream in a homemade waffle cone: Ah-mazing. From there you are free to wander through the art exhibits, enjoy live performances and explore new restaurants for small bites along the way.

Happy date night! :)
When you think of coconut oil you probably think of the many health benefits boasted in recent media. It's nature's miracle in a jar and has replaced the job of many cooking oils, skin moisturizers, hair conditioners... this list goes on. However, my latest obsession with coconut oil is for make-up remover!
I've wasted my money on chemical cleansers and wipes and nothing has ever worked better, especially for removing eye make-up. Not to mention, it's deep hydration is great for preventing fine lines from aging and naturally leaves your skin with a fresh glow. So the next time you go to remove your make-up, toss the chemical mixtures that leave your eyes burning and grab for a wash cloth and jar of coconut oil!
Tip & Tricks: First, wash your face with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and pat your face dry. Scoop a tablespoon or two of coconut oil with your finger tips and massage around your face and eyes. Using a cotton ball or washcloth, gently wipe away until all of your makeup is removed. For heavy make-up, you may add more coconut oil and repeat.
Au revoir harsh, stinging cleaners. We promise not to miss you!
If I could, I'd spend all of my time decorating and then redecorating and redecorating... For me it's my happy place. There's a sense of fulfillment when I am able to give life to an empty space. Whenever I have a free minute with no where to be and nothing to do I drive straight to HomeGoods, Michaels & Pier1 (lucky for me they're right next to each other!) With no agenda I leisurely stroll the aisles to see what's trending. Usually I leave with a new candle or some functional item to further enable my organizational OCD, but occasionally I leave with the urge (& all the accessories) to completely re-do a room! Lucky for me, I had one of those days, came home, and ripped apart my dining room - starting with the curtains!
I wanted my window treatments to be bold, setting the tone for the room and tying all of my new accessories together. My inspiration came from a black and white striped rug I saw in the IKEA catalog. As I started my search for the curtains, I was disappointed with my options. Skinny, vertical, zigzag, multi-colored, dark-navy blue... everything but thick, black, horizontal stripes. Because I'm stubborn and refused to compromise my beloved room's integrity, I started my google search to make them myself. And so I did!
With the help of my sister, we took plain linen IKEA curtains, measured the stripes down the side of the curtain and taped it off. With a few coats of black paint from Home Depot using a mini paint roller - I soon had the perfect curtain.. all for about $30!
